Labor Day Weekend Sales

As promised, below you will find a list of stores (mainly some of my favorite places to shop) and their deals for the Labor Day holiday weekend.  I included links for stores that have on-line shopping.  One key to scoring a deal is not to buy an item solely because it is on sale (trust me, I speak from experience).  Be purposeful and intentional with your shopping, not impulsive and emotional.

Going Bananas

Tank & Clutch-J. Crew Factory~ Shorts-The Limited~ Converse Sneakers-DSW

It's almost Friday and I'm soo excited about sleeping in and the long weekend!  This week was the first full week of school, so I'm pretty tired; it really takes me a good month to get back in the swing of things and get my life in order.  My schedule is literally going to be bananas this semester, due to me taking on way too much, but I'll make it through.     In this post, I fell in love with this with this tank from J. Crew Factory and had to have it the first time I saw it.  I paired it with a pair of relaxed denim shorts (which are the most comfortable pair of shorts I own) and white Converse sneakers for a very casual look, but threw in a cute, somewhat dressy, straw clutch to go with.  I'm working on a post that will outline some stores that you should definitely visit to score a great deal during this upcoming Labor Day weekend. What are your Labor Day plans?

Ready to Set Sail!

With Labor Day just days away, the dog days of summer are coming to an end.  So, why not get in a few more summer outfits (okay let's face it, they'll be many more because I live in the lovely state of SC) before transitioning into Fall wear?  In the first outfit, I paired an embellished tank with a printed pair of shorts and added a pop of color with the necklace.

In the second outfit, I paired the same tank with a pair of green cropped pants to dress the look up a bit.  Which look do you like better?

Candy Stripes & A Tip to go With

Tank-The Limited~ Cropped Denim Pants-GAP Factory~ Wedges-Jessica Simpson~ Accessories & Clutch-Local Boutique (Handpicked)

One of my favorite places to shop is an outlet mall.  I prefer Mills over Tanger mainly because all Tanger outlets are outside, but I've found, in most cases, they usually have the same stores.  Outlet shopping and buying items, especially staples, at the end of a season is a great way to save and score a deal.  I purchased these white denim cropped pants last August for $12.99, at GAP Factory Store, and since they are a staple, they have been in regular rotation since May.  This purchase also saved me from going out in April or May this year and spending $55-$65 on a pair.  I know that many people prefer to shop at local boutiques and department stores, but the same rule applies.  Now is the perfect time to find items for next Spring and Summer that are marked down 50% or more.  Many stores even offer an additional percentage off their sales prices on the weekend.  With Labor Day right around the corner, you can anticipate big sales next weekend, so be ready to pick up a few new pieces for Fall and some staple pieces that you will be able to wear next year.  Comment below is you have recently found any great pieces on sale that you are sure you will still love next year.  My most recent was a blue and white striped dress (with a yellow belt) that I bought from The Limited for $35; I'm sure that dress will be in rotation for the next few summers.

Welcome!

Hi all,
I'm Ashley!  I started looking at fashion blogs probably a year or so ago (I know... that is super late), but since then, I've wanted to start my own.  Well, I stepped out on faith and here I am with My Slice of Style! I am equal parts nervous and excited about the launch. I love shopping, all things fashion, and, most importantly scoring a deal.  This blog will include many of my daily outfits and bits of my life, here and there.  I enjoy working out, so you may see posts relating to my fitness journey as well.  I plan to post 2-3 times a week to start and hope to increase that over time.  Please check back regularly to see new posts.  Tomorrow will be my first outfit post!
