The Last Day of Summer

Jacket- Old Navy (similar)~ Dress- J. Crew Factory~ Clutch- The Limited (similar)~ Shoes- Macy's (Jessica Simpson)

Boy, time really does fly!  It's been nearly a couple weeks or so since I last posted because life truly has a way of happening....  As I said in a previous post, my life/schedule is truly bananas this semester, so it truly is difficult to balance it all at times.  At any rate, today is the last official day of summer.  I'm sure most people have started to feel Fall begin to creep in over the past couple weeks.  I'm really looking forward to Fall, the cooler weather, the SC State Fair, and all that Fall brings.
Well, for the last day of summer, I've posted an outfit that can also transition into Fall quite nicely.  This dress can be worn with or without the jean jacket and can be worn out to dinner on the weekend or to work.  One thing that sold me on this dress were the buttons down the back.  I'm a sucker for small details and embellishments, so when I find them on a piece that I like, they usually seal the deal for me.
I've purchased a few Fall pieces that I'm excited about spotlighting on the blog soon.  Also, The Limited is launching a collection inspired by Scandal (Oliva Pope) and I'll be attending a little soiree for it on Tuesday evening, so I hope to pick up a couple more pieces there as well.  Anybody else looking forward to the season premiere of Scandal on Thursday?!?  Check back soon for my first Fall post!

Shirt& Skirt-Old Navy~ Converse Sneakers-DSW

Happy Wednesday fashion friends!  I've had my Chambray shirts in regular rotation this summer and I'm sure this one will continue to be a part of my first string throughout the Fall and Winter months.  This week we've been experiencing some fairly pleasant weather with overcast and rainy days.  So, I decided to wear my Chambray shirt with a striped skirt for a comfy, more casual look on Monday.  I didn't wear the Converse to work (I wore sandals instead), but I'd wear the Converse, with this outfit, if I were wearing it on the weekend. I absolutely love these Converse, partly because they are so versatile and are rather chic.  I promise not to have them on in my next post... promise!

A Weekly Staple

Happy Sunday all! I'm going to start a weekly feature on the blog entitled Three Things I'm Obsessed with this Tuesday (or Thursday) depending on how my week goes.... If you any of you have ever watched Watch What Happens Live on Bravo, you know that on each episode, Andy Cohen mentions three things that he's obsessed with and they vary from a current event to a person to a topic that he's really into at the moment.  Well, I'm going to include three things (mainly clothing items, shoes or accessories) that I'm really loving and I may sprinkle other things in over time.  Of course, this blog is still in its infancy, so for those of you that are already tuned in and loyal followers (THANKS!), you will have the pleasure of seeing it evolve over time.  So, my first three things are below and expect another on Thursday.

Three Things I'm Obsessed With...

The start of Fall is officially 16 days away, with that said, most stores have drastically reduced their summer pieces to get rid of them and have already started to usher in their Fall lines.  Here are three pieces that are must haves for me for the cooler weather.
  1. I've had my eye on this quilted puffer J. Crew Factory vest since late July.  I'm so upset with myself for not buying it when it was on sale then for $69.  Right now, it's $108, but if I buy it in store, they offer a teacher (and student) discount of 15% off.
  2. I'm always up for a cute graphic tee and Old Navy have several cute ones out right now.  My favorite has to be You, Me, Oui (did anyone else other than me take French in high school and college?!?).
  3. Lulu's sells cute and trendy shoes, clothing and accessories.  Who doesn't love leopard print and an ankle strap, need I say more?!?  The Anne Michelle Leopard Suede Heels are sure to make several outfits pop!
I hope that everyone has a great week!

White After Labor Day

Shirt- Old Navy~ Denim Cropped Pants-GAP Factory~ Converse Sneakers- DSW~ Accessories-Handpicked

I hope that everyone enjoyed the long weekend and are having a great "short" week; can you believe that it's already Hump Day?!? Well, Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer which brings about the age old question, "Is it okay to wear white after Labor Day?"  Well, the answer to this question is two-fold.  I'm a very regimented and black & white type of girl, but with this question, the answer falls in the dreaded gray area for me.  I answer, "Yes."  However, the person must feel comfortable wearing the white.  Yesterday, was 97 degrees, in the great Palmetto state, so I decided to wear white pants to work and didn't think about it once.  I think how you wear white after Labor Day may look a little different than it did in the middle of Summer, but I certainly believe it is perfectly okay to do.  Plus, rules were made to be broken!  In this post, I paired white cropped denim pants with a long sleeved dark Chambray shirt.  I think this is a great transitional outfit that can be worn throughout this month, especially as cooler mornings and evenings start to creep in.  Aim to pair your white with darker and/or fall like colors.  You can also wear a darker color of Converse or shoes to have less white in a similar outfit.  Chambray shirts can be found in various shades in nearly every store, from Target, to J. Crew Factory, to GAP, to Old Navy.  Soooo.... will you be wearing white after Labor Day?  Leave a comment below and let me know.  Go ahead, be a risk taker!
